Overview As a Hardware Engineer with SumUp, you will be instrumental in the foundational development of our innovative physical products. Within the dynamic Hardware Tribe, your main task will be to convert product specifications into effective and scalable electrical designs. This role is based in our Berlin office, where we value in-person interactions that foster collaboration and creativity.
Responsibilities - Design and refine electrical schematics for new product initiatives. - Work closely with firmware and mechanical engineers to design, test, and validate our products. - Debug and confirm designs through prototyping and iterative testing processes. - Collaborate with the enthusiastic Hardware team to tackle complex challenges and propose design enhancements. - Serve as a hardware engineering expert, coordinating the implementation process with agile, cross-functional teams throughout product development projects.
Requirements - 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within consumer electronics or hardware product development. - Strong knowledge in areas such as RF (cellular, NFC, Wi-Fi/BT), power design, digital buses/protocols, battery technology, and analog design. - Proven track record of successfully bringing multiple hardware products to mass production. - Proficiency in at least one major CAD software (e.g., Altium, Cadence/Allegro). - A self-starter with strong initiative, capable of working autonomously while also thriving in collaborative environments. - Nice to have: A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred) and basic coding skills for simple firmware compilation and validation.

About the Team You may have already used our card readers for your morning coffee or to settle your hairdresser's bill. Our Hardware team is dedicated to designing aesthetically pleasing card payment devices and accessories that empower merchants to launch, manage, and grow their businesses.
